SEATTLE, Wash. (MAY 10, 2019) – Greater Seattle Partners and Enterprise Ireland announced today a new cooperation agreement to promote bilateral trade and investment. Leaders from both companies formalized the memorandum of cooperation at a signing ceremony in Dublin’s SOBO district.

The announcement is the culmination of a week-long leadership mission to Ireland led by Greater Seattle Partners and the Seattle Metro Chamber, with support from the Consulate General of Ireland.

The delegation of local business leaders and elected officials traveled to Ireland to learn from their counterparts about the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing economy, strengthen ties and foster deeper relationships with key businesses global leaders.

The agreement between Greater Seattle Partners and Enterprise Ireland establishes long-term cooperation between the Dublin and greater Seattle regions, capitalizing on mutually beneficial business prospects and partnerships.

“By formalizing our relationship with Enterprise Ireland, we have a greater opportunity to promote Seattle on the international stage,” said Brian McGowan, CEO of Greater Seattle Partners. “We are excited to officially connect with Irish companies that are looking to expand their global footprint and we welcome new international business and investment into our region.”

This cooperation agreement comes on the heels of Enterprise Ireland’s announcement last month that it will expand its U.S. operations and open a new office in Seattle, taking advantage of the region’s diverse economy and convenient geographic location. Enterprise Ireland intends to work with Greater Seattle Partners to lead reciprocal business missions with Irish officials and industry leaders to explore greater Seattle as a target for investment and business expansion.

Through this relationship, the two entities will also connect education and research institutions and local business associations to leverage industry insight and innovative problem solving.

Leo McAdams, Head of International Sales & Partnering, Enterprise Ireland said “As Enterprise Ireland expands its presence across the US with the opening of its sixth office in Seattle, our strategic partnership with Greater Seattle Partners will be instrumental in strengthening commercial links for Enterprise Ireland client companies in this dynamic growth region of the US. Over 600 Irish owed companies are employing over 100,000 people in the US and we are focused on growing these numbers. Today’s partnership announcement with Greater Seattle Partner will pave the way for greater expansion of Irish companies in this region. In the past year two years alone, Enterprise Ireland-supported companies opened 119 new offices in the U.S.”
