The Greater Seattle region is home to a thriving ecosystem of developer tools AI startups, driving innovation in software development and artificial intelligence. This infographic highlights top emerging companies, such as Xethub with $7.5 million in funding, Symbl.ai with $23.6 million, and Spice AI with $14.6 million. Backed by prominent investors like Madrona Venture Group and Techstars, these startups are pushing the boundaries of AI-powered tools designed to boost developer productivity. With companies like MangoBoost, which secured $65.8 million, Seattle’s AI startup scene is rapidly shaping the future of development tools and AI.
In the past year, Greater Seattle’s cleantech sector saw impressive funding rounds. Leading the pack, Zap Energy raised $129.9M for fusion energy, followed by LevelTen Energy with $61.1M for its energy marketplace. Solar-focused Omnidian and Cosmos Innovation secured $25M and $16.8M, respectively. Other notable raises include Recurrent ($16M, SaaS), RYP Labs ($8.1M, waste management), Juicer ($7.15M, charging infrastructure), EDO ($5M, energy management), Cleantech Strategies ($5M, energy consulting), and Climate Vault Solutions ($3.1M, carbon capture).
The Greater Seattle region is home to a thriving AI robotics startup ecosystem, as highlighted in the infographic. Leading the charge is Carbon Robotics, which raised $73.9M, with backing from Bolt, Ignition Partners, and others. Terraclear follows with $53.4M, supported by Madrona Venture Group. Outlift AI and Artly Coffee have secured $6.8M and $8.3M, respectively, both advancing AI applications in their sectors, with Artly Coffee being women-led. Newer entrants like Ally Robotics and Roboto AI, both founded in 2022, raised $4.6M and $4.8M, respectively, while Orchard Robotics raised $3.8M from Humba Ventures and Genius Ventures. Acumino received $4.1M, and Metrolla, another women-founded company, raised $450K in pre-seed rounds. Additionally, Situq secured $500K, and Numurus raised $2M from Tokusui Corporation of America. Established in 2013, Olis Robotics also raised $7.8M from investors like Alliance of Angels and SeaChange.

Two women-founded companies, Loti (2022) and Tamnoon (2022), raised $5.2 million and $18 million, respectively, showing a growing diversity in the field. BlueTeam AI, founded in 2023, is an emerging player with its total funding still undisclosed. Together, these startups represent the cutting-edge innovations in cybersecurity from the Greater Seattle area, addressing the growing need for AI-powered protection and security solutions.
The Greater Seattle region is home to some of the most popular video games in the industry. Halo, developed by Bungie, Halo Studios and headquartered in Redmond, WA, is a renowned franchise created by a women-founded company. Guild Wars, an online role-playing game by ArenaNet, has been captivating players since 2000 from its Bellevue, WA base. League of Legends, developed by Riot Games, has a significant presence in Des Moines, WA, and continues to dominate the eSports scene globally. Meanwhile, Forza, developed by Turn 10 Studios in Redmond, WA, stands as a leader in the racing game genre. These titles exemplify the region’s substantial contribution to the gaming world.
Seattle ranked as the smartest city in the U.S., based on PropTechOS data from 2024. It highlights Seattle’s strengths, ranking #2 in both connectivity & infrastructure and sustainability, evaluated across various metrics including tech infrastructure, innovative companies, green building certification, and EV charging networks.
